This simple cake is a favorite of the Hemly family. It is better the second day than the first. Excellent as a breakfast bread.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9X13 cake pan. Peel and dice the apples; set aside. Cream together the sugar, oil, and eggs. When well blended, add the diced apples. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add the flour mixture to the apple/sugar mixture and blend together. The batter will be stiff. Put into a 9X13 pan and bake for approximately 1 hour.

Ingredients: 
5 medium sized apples or medium sized ripe firm pears
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
